Anthony Edwards Is Changing His Jersey Number

'A Whole Different Player'

Sitdown at Stadium on Decision to Change from No. 1

Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Anthony Edwards is changing his jersey number to No. 0. The 21-year-old guard made the announcement on Stadium's "Sitdown" show, saying that he feels like a "whole different player" now that he's entering his fourth NBA season.

"I'm just a different player now," Edwards said. "I feel like I've grown a lot, both on and off the court. I'm ready to take that next step in my career, and I think changing my jersey number is a good way to symbolize that."

Edwards has worn No. 1 since he was drafted by the Timberwolves with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft. He's averaged 20.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game in his three seasons with the team.

Edwards' decision to change his jersey number comes after a breakout season in which he averaged 23.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. He was named an All-Star for the first time and helped lead the Timberwolves to their first playoff appearance since 2018.
