Celtic Boss Brendan Rodgers Confident Small Details Wont Cost Them As They Bid To Reach Last 16

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers confident 'small details' won't cost them as they bid to reach last 16

Rodgers reckons Celtic are ready to make history and reach the knockout stages

The Hoops boss believes his team have the quality to get the job done against Anderlecht on Wednesday night

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is confident that his team can overcome the 'small details' that have cost them in the past as they bid to reach the last 16 of the Champions League.

The Hoops have a two-goal advantage going into the second leg of their tie against Anderlecht at Celtic Park on Wednesday night.

And Rodgers believes his team have the quality to get the job done.

"We've shown in the past that we can play at this level and we've shown in the past that we can beat the best teams," Rodgers said.

"We've just got to make sure that we focus on the small details and make sure that we're not giving away cheap goals.

"If we can do that, I'm confident that we can get the job done."

Celtic have been in impressive form this season, winning 11 of their last 12 games in all competitions.

They have also kept clean sheets in their last six games, a run that includes a 2-0 win over Anderlecht in the first leg of their Champions League tie.

Rodgers believes that his team's recent form gives them a lot of confidence going into the second leg.

"We're in a good place at the moment," Rodgers said.

"We're playing well, we're scoring goals and we're keeping clean sheets.

"We know that Anderlecht are a good team, but we're confident that we can beat them."

Celtic are aiming to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League for the first time since 2012.

Rodgers believes that his team have the quality to make history.

"We've got a good team and we're capable of anything," Rodgers said.

"We just need to make sure that we're focused and that we're ready to give everything we've got."

Celtic will be without the suspended Kieran Tierney for the second leg against Anderlecht.

But Rodgers is confident that his team have enough quality to cover for the Scotland international's absence.

"We've got a strong squad and we've got players who can come in and do a job," Rodgers said.

"We're not going to miss Kieran, we're just going to have to find a way to replace him."
